I’ve been running a weekly postcard group at a coffee house for several years. It’s become a crucial community gathering, with useful work to occupy us and solidarity to comfort and energize us. It helps to share our grief but also to organize for other actions. I highly recommend doing something like this.

I wrote this in the morning, following a somewhat sleepless night after the passage of the horrific bill the other day:
This is my fear, which greatly affected my ability to sleep the other night. January 6th will be nothing in comparison. Once 47 has his huge ICE budget implemented and his jackbooted stormtrooper private army in place, they will have (dubious) domestic legal authority and will not be limited to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The danger is that they will be directed to arrest, charge with treason, and imprison (if not summarily execute) anyone who opposes his agenda or disagrees with him, including but not limited to governors, journalists, lawyers, judges, and legislators, even though he is the most treasonous of all. I hope my fears are unfounded but, so far, he has proven to meet or exceed my worst expectations.
They have 16 months to do their worst before midterms, which many, including a US Senator, have said the administration has no intention of allowing them to be held. In less than 6 months, Trump and his cronies have already severely damaged the nation.
He has already destabilized the USA's economy and is setting the stage for a second civil war. Putin & Xi Jinping of China are applauding the weakening of the USA. God help us. I hope I'm only being paranoid but......the parallels between now and 1933 Germany cannot be ignored.
My favorite story was about the two Latinas rescuing 20 girls from the flood.
